Celebrating the Life of "Uncle Jimmy"

James Henry Mills fondly known as "Uncle Jimmy" was born to the union of Jim L. Mills Jr. and Ethel Lee Robinson-Mills on May 3rd, 1954 in Milford Delaware.

Knowing that he needed the Lord in his life, Jimmy accepted Christ at a very young age while attending Welcome Full Gospel Holiness Church, in Lincoln Delaware. The family relocated to Los Angeles, California where he continued to serve the Lord as a Deacon at Preached Out Evangelist Church of God in Christ under the leadership of Elder Louie Manley. It was during this time that Jimmy found his wife Ophelia Cathy-Mills (preceding him in death).

Jimmy attended several years of schooling in Los Angeles where he also attended the Compton Adult School in which he specialized in "quilt making" and "wood carving" where he made a cradle for his baby nephew Ishmael. Jimmy made quilts for his family ranging from twin size for kids and queen size for adults.

Some of Jimmy's fondest memories were attending camp regularly at the Regional Center of Los Angeles. He also loved going to the Easter Seals where he was taught how to clean the library, organize the thrift store and ride the bus by himself.

Jimmy was a true philanthropist who enjoyed giving to the extent that during the winter months he knitted hats, scarves and mittens to give to the military families. Jimmy was not just a star amongst the televised stars as he often competed in the "Special Olympics" where he won many medals as a participant in the 100-meter dash, the long jump, shot put and swimming.

He eventually moved to Palmdale California with his mother Ethel Mills (preceding him in death), where he continued competing in the Special Olympics as an active bowler with the "Palmdale Special Olympic Stealth Striker Bowling League".

Upon moving to Palmdale Jimmy became unable to commute to Los Angeles but that didn't stop him. He joined (RIC) Relationships in Christ COGIC under the leadership of Pastor Daren L. Banks as a greeter. A position befitting Jimmy's welcoming personality.

If you knew Jimmy at all, then you knew that he was never ashamed of the Gospel! His favorite songs to sing were "Because HE lives" and "Jesus IS real to me!" Of all of Jimmy's accomplishments, his proudest and biggest achievement was serving the Lord where he always took advantage of the opportunity to tell EVERYBODY, about SOMEBODY that can save ANYBODY!

On November 22nd, 2016 while residing with his loving sister Nancy in Palmdale, CA. Jimmy made yet another relocation, he transitioned to his final destination and is now resting with the Lord. No more tedious journeys; no more weeping and wailing. Jimmy has put on his robe and he's telling his story of how he made it over!
