Mrs. Rhea E. Jacobs of Lompoc, California passed away Saturday, June 3, 2017 at home surrounded by her family at the age of 89.

Rhea was born on July 28, 1927 in El Dorado, Kansas. She moved to Boron, California in 1969 with her three kids, Malia, Rome and Sydney. In 1974, she moved to Vandenberg AFB in Lompoc, California with her husband Arthur L. Jacobs. Over the next 30 years Rhea and Arthur moved around between Lancaster, Lompoc and Boron in support of their children. In any community that Rhea lived she was out going, an animal caregiver, seamstress and artist. Her main focus and joy were her children and anything she could do to help them. Rhea never let anything stop her no matter what came her way, a "human sherman tank", she always moved forward and kept her joy whether challenged by polio, meningitis, including her debilitating injury which left her physically challenged for the majority of her adult life. Her children and grandchildren recall her instilling in them a sense of respect and an underlying faith that God was in control and it was important to love and care for people always. She had a caring heart, honest opinion and would always be there to listen.

She is survived by her daughter Sydney Greer of Lompoc, 6 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Arthur Jacobs (2009), mother Ruby Thompson (1986), son Rome Greer (1985), daughter Malia Cornwell (2010) and her brother Robert Stanyer.

A celebration of Rhea's life will be held on June 16, 2017 at Joshua Memorial Park in Lancaster, California. Viewing at 1 pm, followed by a graveside service at 2 pm.
